Kamila Izquierdo is a student at The Honors College Dual Language Program at Miami Dade College. Kamila joined the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society during her first year of college. This year, Kamila is the president of Gamma Eta, a chapter of Sigma Kappa Delta, The English Honor Society. She joined Urbana Literary & Arts magazine as a social media editor. She is also working with Corazón Contento, The Happy Heart Foundation, helping first-generation students apply to college. Kamila plans to transfer to a four-year university to attain her bachelor’s degree in English and Literature and then pursue a master’s degree in Literature studies. She was born in Cuba and immigrated with her parents to Spain, and later came to the United States at the age of fifteen. Her favorite books include A Room Of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf and My Policeman by Bethan Roberts.

Mario Casamassima is a 21-year-old Computer Arts Animation at Miami Dade College’s The Honors College student who has a burning passion for design, color, technology, and arts in general. He has a strong sense of aesthetics and loves to find creative solutions to every problem he encounters. Mario is the current president of the Japanese Culture and Manga Club, an organization that teaches about Japanese culture while being a place to have fun and socialize. He is also a member of PTK, Urbana Literary and Arts Magazine, and SGA. Mario has won the Florida’s Congressional App Challenge of 2019, received PTK’s Member of the Month recognition on three different occasions, and won the Rising Star 2020-2021 award due to club involvement. He finds himself fascinated by nature and animals, specially dogs and reptiles, and is eager to get involved in pro-environmental projects, such as beach cleanups and making educational animations.  Mario’s hobbies are drawing, singing, and playing piano.

Maurizio Casamassima is a Computer Arts and Animation major at Miami Dade College that dreams of becoming a great graphic designer. Born in Venezuela, he has been able to help with Urbana’s XIV and XV volumes, and contributed some artworks for the magazine. He loves nice challenges and creative opportunities.

Camila Ramirez is a student at Miami Dade College and part of The Honors College. She has been part of Urbana since Volume XIV as layout staff and as the Design and Art Director for Volume XV. Despite her major switch from animation to computer science, Camila has kept honing her skills and vision on art and design while contributing to different publications. For Camila, design is storytelling at first sight, and as such, she strives to do it as clearly and beautifully as possible.

"Women’s Political Resistance after the Era of the Desaparecidos"

"This documentary explores Argentinian women’s vulnerable position in a post-war society (after the Dirty War/la Guerra Sucia) and the implications of their trauma, as it is portrayed in the works of Argentine author Mariana Enríquez.

Nicole Viloria is an English Literature student at The Honors College at Miami Dade College, aiming to transfer to a Comparative Literature program. As a lover of languages, writing, and reading since she was living in Venezuela, she wishes to translate novels and write novels of her own. She graduated from Felix Varela High School at the top 1% of her class. At Miami Dade College, she won second place at the Ghost Story Contest, which earned her the publication of her story at the library's digital Learning Commons website. As former president of the Spanish Honor Society, she organized Christmas toy drives for kids in the Dominican Republic. Now, she tutors a student from Ukraine once a week to help her practice her English. She has researched Gloria Naylor’s novels and presented it at the Humanities Education Research Association 2022 conference. She is also the founding secretary of Gamma Eta, the chapter of Sigma Kappa Delta English Honor Society and part of the editorial staff at Urbana Literary & Arts magazine. As someone who has struggled with accepting herself, including her accent and sexual orientation, she wishes to help others navigate those internal struggles through literacy and stories.
