Tic Toc

By Olivia Abreu

I hear you coming, tic toc

With a voiceless rhythm,

Pushing forward terrified.

It might be a diabolic clap

Shred with fears and running lies.

I hear you coming, tic toc.

You hear them hissing into battle

You are for sure not ready to fight, but

You are pushing forward, although terrified.

I fathom your tremors and wonder,

Is it hope or anguish I descry?

I hear you coming, tic toc.

Some strides are larger than life,

Stumping, rushing, tripping into the night

Pushing forward terrified.

Shackles are gone,

Yet the scarlet letter lingers.

I know you are pushing forward terrified

But, Good! I hear you coming tic toc.
