Ocean's 1

by Lauren Tafur

All we do is take her for granted.
We fish because we have to feed,
but look around —
Do you really see so much need?

We have to make a change.
Before it gets to be too late,
we’re stuck on standby,
sealing our own sorry fate.

All we do is take her for granted.
We toss her our waste,
almost as if
we believe it will somehow be erased.

We have to make a change.
Before it gets to be too late,
we’re stuck on standby,
sealing our own sorry fate.

All we do is take her for granted.
We love the sun and sand,
but come time,
we’re never willing to lend a hand

One cleanup won’t solve it.
It’s beyond simple repair.
At this point, we are all left in despair
we are almost limited to just prayer.
